ABOUT TANYA POWERS

Tanya is the founder of Powers Immigration Law and has dedicated her practice to representing clients in all aspects of immigration law. Tanya is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Among her legal and professional memberships are: the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), North Carolina Bar Association,  Mecklenburg County Bar Association (Immigration Practice Section), Maryland Bar Association (Immigration Section), and the American Bar Association. Tanya is licensed by the states of North Carolina and Maryland.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Tanya was a human resource professional where she worked with employees from many countries.  In this position, Tanya found she enjoyed listening to people’s stories and helping them solve their problems. It was this desire to serve the immigrant community that inspired Tanya to attend law school.

While in law school, Tanya worked at the school’s Immigrant Rights Clinic and as a judicial intern with the Baltimore Immigration Court. Tanya is still as passionate about immigration law as she was when she first registered to attend law school. She is an ethical and zealous advocate for her clients.

Tanya's professional experience in human resources provided her with an appreciation of the particular difficulties immigrants face in their daily lives and the distinct challenges employers face in balancing productivity, regulatory compliance and workforce fulfillment. Tanya applies these insights when she is assisting her clients.
